Team Lead Greenhouse

Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Team Lead to join our Greenhouse department at Hazera Seeds.

The Team Leader Greenhouse will be responsible of leading a team of Breeding Technicians and provide functional guidance for the seasonal workers. With strong people skills, the Team Lead Greenhouse and the team takes care of all greenhouse plants growing activities for the related crop’s seed production and supporting cultivation activities of other departments /crops. The Team Lead Greenhouse takes care of the tasks and labor planning (annual, monthly and weekly planning), quality checks, analyzing processes, and reports on quality and quantity output. He/She allocates activities ensuring timely execution and strives towards continuous improvement and is also responsible for a (socially) healthy and safe working environment.

Job requirements

Role & responsibilities:

  • Execute GH activity growing and selection process in the Research greenhouses (crop care, harvesting, seed growing).

  • Holding work meetings, creating and maintaining work schedules in consultation with the Operations manager and breeders (preventing downtime).

  • Own team members performance evaluation and development.

  • Meet required deliverables on time and within quantity and quality according to the agreed expectations with stakeholders.

  • Supervising, motivating, monitoring and stimulating employees for quality improvements and process innovation of the various departments.

  • Compliance with safety and quality guidelines and safe ways of working by the all in the Greenhouse. Ensure proper and safe operation of equipment and installations.

  • Conduct (inter) departmental consultations and maintain records and registration and identify deviations and diseases in crops.

  • Seasonal reporting of growing season, including KPI’s.

  • Replacing the Crop Specialist in his/her absence.

  • Working with climate computer and analyzing data.

  • Managing 6 employees (4-10 seasonal staff).

 

Candidate profile:

  • HBO- Greenhouse Production / Plant Cultivation.

  • Several years of relevant work experience in cultivation and/or people management.

  • Fluent Dutch both verbal and written; English good level expectation.

  • Computer skills: MS-Office, climate computer ( e.g. Priva and Hortimax systems).

  • Basic technical knowledge.

  • Forklift license (or ready to obtain one).

  • Spraying certificate preferred (or ready to obtain one).

*Due to the seasonal character of the business in high season it is requested that you are also available for work on weekends and early or late hours.
