Seed Production Specialist (Cucurbits)
The mission of the Cucurbits Seed Production Specialist will be to coordinate and guide all activities related to seed productions for new varieties, stock seeds and commercial contracts of the crops. He/she will ensure the most reliable production of seeds, taking in account an optimum price/quality ratio.
Role & responsibilities:
Participating in the local production department activities, as a member of the Cucurbit production global team.
Planning the multi-season production of seeds, according to sales forecast and existing inventory of stock seeds (STS).
Follow STS and commercial productions in the Netherlands and abroad.
Creating the distribution of the crop production plans according to the surface available: farm/growers/ vendors.
Preparing the contracts based on the crop planning and manage the related administration.
Recording the features and traits of the different parental lines (report and act upon any unexpected issues)
Guiding and advising the growers and vendors throughout the crop cycle (plan with them the sowing, harvesting and supply of the various seed crops).
Monitoring, reviewing and implementing production protocols for Cucurbits portfolio together with others in the team.
Managing all administrative tasks related to the production, including temporary workers on different production stages.
Supporting and participating in production research programs in coordination with the production research department.
Working with different interfaces in the company (Processing Plant, QC, QA, Seeds Technologies, Planning, R&D, Marketing, Finance).
Job requirements
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, or a vocational (MBO) degree in agriculture combined with relevant experience.
Knowledge of production methods and techniques.
Very good analytical skills and very well organized.
Taking initiative, able to work systematically and independently.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Maturity, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
Dutch and English languages, both speaking and writing.
