We are looking for a


Operations Manager/Lead (R&D) 

Fulltime


In this position you will lead the vegetable seed R&D activities throughout Hazera’s sites (3) in the Netherlands and through external growers in the Netherlands. The R&D Operations Lead will have the responsibility to develop an operations management team to execute R&D activity at the sites, to coordinate implementation of a multi-crop R&D Greenhouses and field programs and to support breeding and technology projects.


You will be a member of the Global R&D Operations Leadership Team and will have close interaction with colleagues across Hazera’s R&D organization, Product Development and Seed Production.


For this role at Hazera Seeds, we are seeking an enthusiastic, results oriented and highly communicative individual with strong operational (logistics, industrial or agricultural) experience/background. You will be based in Made (Noord Brabant) and you will need to travel regularly to Hazera’s R&D sites in Rilland and Warmenhuizen.


Role & responsibilities:


  • Manage agronomic plant raising, greenhouse compartments, net houses and open field related activities
  • Lead and implement strict sanitation, safety and quality policies
  • Lead periodically reporting on activity performance, quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Create and verify continuous improvement roadmap execution
  • Ensure data driven decision making based on defined KPIs
  • Establish required protocols and processes to be followed and standardized
  • Execute breeding and technologies projects according to agreed requirements, on-time and within budget
  • Liaise with breeding teams on field trial needs and develop a field trial operational plan and budget
  • Actively manage all components of the R&D field trial plan
  • Lead investment projects, from planning to execution, collaborate with supporting functions to consolidate an approved plan. Track and execute according to milestones and expected deliverables.
  • Interact with nurseries, growers and laboratories
  • Contribute to Global R&D Operations projects and initiatives through engagement and collaborative interaction with colleagues in different regions and functions
  • Verifying operations maintenance and support in case of equipment/system breakdown

Job requirements

  • MSc in agronomy (crop science or similar field) or BSc with relevant working experience
  • Proven strong people management skills
  • Strong project management experience
  • Background in field or vegetable crop research (preferred)
  • Knowledge of operational practices, logistics and planning
  • Experience in agricultural activities, field trialing and/or vegetables greenhouses operations (an advantage)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and strong problem-solving capabilities
  • Expertise in MS Office and data analysis applications
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically frequently and to work under variable environmental conditions associated with field trial work
  • Fluent in Dutch and English language
  • Valid driver’s license
