For our R&D Department in Warmenhuizen, North Holland, we are looking for a 


Phytopathology Assistant


(Fulltime, permanent)


Can you imagine what a vegetable seed company of the future will look like? Does the thought of making the future a reality get you excited? We are seeking for hands-on candidates to assist the Phytopathology department with routine phenotyping activities in multiple crops. You are part of and interact closely with a multidisciplinary and international team of researchers. You will have close interaction with the local operational team and with colleagues in different departments. You will report to the Project lead Crucifer Phytopathology.


Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Prepare and execute routine disease tests and/or research activities (trial design, inoculation, scoring etc.)
  • Co-ordinate with colleagues of the Phytopathology, Breeding and Operations teams
  • Data analyses of the routine tests
  • Reporting results of the tests to the team and the stakeholders
  • Execute routine laboratory activities (media preparation, multiplication of isolates etc.)
  • Maintenance of the plants in climate chamber and greenhouse
  • Maintenance of pathogens (both in vivo and in vitro)

Job requirements


  • Bachelor’s level in or Biology, Breeding or Biotechnology oriented
  • Experience with laboratory techniques including sterile working and media preparation
  • Accurate and observant
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Highly motivated and responsible
  • Proficient in Dutch and English
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software
  • Driving license B
  • Affinity with plants, greenhouse, and field work
  • Good communication and organizational skills
