For our R&D location in Warmenhuizen, the Netherlands, we are looking for a

Pathology Assistant

(Fulltime, based in the Netherlands, Warmenhuizen)

As a Pathology Assistant based at the R&D site of Hazera Seeds B.V. in Warmenhuizen, you will report to the Allium and Brassica Pathologist and will also work closely with the Entomologist. This position is embedded in the Discovery team of the Vegetable Seed Division of the Limagrain Group, where you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary, international team of researchers aiming to accelerate breeding technology and programs.

Your key mission will be to increase resistance levels of vegetables against diseases and insect pests and contribute in the development of tools and protocols for Pathology.

Job requirements

  • Assist the Pathologist and Entomologist with the implementation and execution of funded R&D projects

  • Proactively co-ordinate and execute defined project work packages

  • Co-ordinate, prepare and execute lab, greenhouse and field trials as well as other research activities in the Netherlands and abroad

  • Analyze and document results

  • Contribute to the optimization of ongoing research activities, and the development of new methods

  • Strengthen the knowledge within the field of phytopathology and entomology and expande our freedom to operate 

  • Supervise the pathology facilities

Candidate profile:

  • An MSc in Phytopathology, Entomology or related fields within Plant Sciences

  • Highly motivated to conduct research and result-oriented

  • You enjoy working with pathogen/ pest- plant systems in the lab and in the open field

  • Enthusiastic about working in a multidisciplinary, international environment

  • Ability to work both in a team and independently

  • Strong organizational, reporting and administrational skills

  • Proficient in English, both written and oral

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel in the Netherlands and abroad
